Should I Keep My Child Home Today? |
Hand Washing & Hand Sanitizer
Hand washing is still the single most effective way to prevent illness according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Wash your hands before eating, after using the restroom, when you cough or sneeze, or whenever they are obviously dirty. The CDC recommends vigorous scrubbing with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds. While you wash, sing a verse of "Happy Birthday," "Jaguar Song," or spell a couple of times, "JAGUARS"!
When soap and water are not available, hand sanitizer is a good option. Hand sanitizers do contain alcohol and can pose a danger to children.
