Our goal is to instill and motivate fifth graders to be life-long learners.
Education
In Fifth Grade our educational focus is on more advanced topics such as in Math where we learn about fractions, geometry, and decimals. In Social Studies we learn more about U.S. and Iowa history. We explore solar energy, pulleys and levers, and nutrition in Science. Fifth grade incorporates technology into all facets of learning through online research, word processing, and testing taking.
Faith
In our focus on Faith we plan and participate in school Masses throughout the year. We also learn about the seven Sacraments and the Liturgical Year of the Church, as well as more advanced prayers in Religion class.
Service
We help others by being leaders in school and community. We are altar servers and lunchroom helpers, as well as kindergarten buddies. During Lent we present the Living Stations of the Cross. We also make cards for parishioners who are home-bound and put the inserts into the weekly bulletins for the Church.
Extras!
Fifth graders have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities including Guitar, Band, Jubilation Choir, Honor Choir, Junior Achievement, and various enrichment opportunities.
