Our goal is to provide our children with the skills to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow and become confident and caring individuals.
Education
In Third Grade our educational focus is on building vocabulary skills by reading more challenging works, improving writing skills, and increasing our understanding of what is written through guided reading and Words of the Week (WOW). We learn our multiplication and division facts in Math. We seek to understand the complexity of Science by learning about the human body, earth materials, trees and oceans, and sound through measurement and hands-on approaches. We focus on becoming informed citizens in Social Studies by learning about the our communities and history through our study of the Titanic.
Faith
In our focus on Faith we plan and participate in School Masses. We also learn about the Church through “We Are the Church”.
Service
We focus on service in many ways in Third Grade. We visit Manor Care residents to fellowship, sing, and do art projects. We collect pop tabs for the Shriners Hospital and plant flowers for Habitat for Humanity.
Extras!
Third graders have an integrated unit (through all educational areas) studying the Titanic, which culminates in a “reenactment” called Titanic Day. Third graders also have the opportunity to participate in
Jubilation Choir, Pack the Balcony, Guitar, Boy and Girl Scouts, and Girls on the Run.
